Overview
Pick up from Hikkaduwa hotel and Drive to Ratnapura. En route Sightseeing rubber plantations, paddy fields, and tea estates. You will visit the Bopath Ella waterfalls with a height of approximately 100 feet or 30 meters. After that, we will visit one of the famous gem mines of Ratnapura. Gems such as the Blue, Star, and Yellow Sapphires, Cat’s Eyes, Rubies, Alexandrites, Amethysts, Zircons, Topaz, and Tourmalines are found here. There will be an opportunity to watch a gem cutter and polisher at work and also visit a lapidary. After we proceed to the Negombo or Colombo airport.
Ratnapura (“City of Gems”)
Ratnapura (“City of Gems”) Firm ancient Rathnapura is Known as the city of gems. The names come from Sinhala and ”Rathna” means ‘ gems” wile ‘Pura means city ‘the city of gems’ other than most of Sri Lanka’s World-renowned precious stones such as blue sapphires, rubies are founding the Rathnapura area. The name of the provincial capital of Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka and the Ratnapura District in which the town is situated.
